MOLECULAR ANALYSIS OF AMINOGLYCOSIDES AND ß-LACTAMS RESISTANT GENES AMONG URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS
This study analysed the ß-lactamase (bla-TEM) gene in bacteria from UTI patients in Peshawar, Pakistan, to determine prevalence and effective therapies. Of 531 samples, 117 (22.03%) were positive, largely from women (64.9%) and middle-aged to elderly people. The predominant pathogens were E. coli (62.4%), Klebsiella spp. (11.1%), and Pseudomonas (7.7%). Ciprofloxacin worked best, but gentamicin and meropenem were resistant.
