Ms. Talaat Mariyam is an e-instructor at the department of English, Virtual University of Pakistan. She is an M.Phil. in Applied Linguistics with her thesis on textbook evaluation. She secured Fulbright scholarship for Foreign Language Teaching Assistant and taught Urdu at Indiana University, Bloomington. She got her Master degrees in English Literature and English Language Teaching and Linguistics from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. She got her first Master's degree in English Literature from the department of English, University of the Punjab and the second Master's degree in ELTL from the Institute of Education and Research, University of the Punjab. She did her thesis on the topics ‘Impact of Fairy Tales on Children’ and ‘Effect of Simile and Metaphor on the Poetry Comprehension of 9th Graders’ respectively. She got diplomas in spoken English from the University of the Punjab and Kipling institute for language learning.
Ms. Mariyam, in the beginning of her career, has worked as an English Language teacher at Winsome Radical School and The Lahore School. She has also written some articles as a freelance writer for some magazines. She has been working as an e-instructor at the Virtual University of Pakistan since 2010. She conducted a workshop on ‘Organizational Behavior, Communication and Ethics’ within the department for faculty capacity building. She has participated in designing syllabus for Introduction to English Literature - ENG 401. She is also a member of the Creative and Editing Committee (for VU-bytes) of the English Department. |
