Introduction
Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Linguistics is a 30CH program spanned over one year. The program has been designed for students who intend to enhance their knowledge of linguistics or apply for a master’s program in linguistics, ELT or any other second-language teaching program in future. In case of pursuing a higher degree like MA ELT or MA Linguistics, the students may apply for course exemption in VU on the basis of PGD Linguistics. PGD in Linguistics will also provide a baseline to the students who have graduated in another discipline and intend to change their field of study. The program will inculcate critical thinking in students about the way a language affects and is affected by the social and cultural environments. It aims to provide a rigorous investigation into various linguistic phenomena including phonology, phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Students will get benefitted by not only improving their language skills, but also be able to polish their meta-learning about how language shapes itself. The program will also cultivate their e-learning, interpersonal and problem-solving skills through multitasking.
