VU organised Intl. Conference on Therapeutic Importance of Traditional Medicines

International Conference titled “Therapeutic Importance of Traditional Medicines”  concluded at Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. The Faculty of Science and Technology organised the conference at M. A. Jinnah Campus Lahore. Experts from globally recognised centres of academic excellence addressed the gathering. The conference attracted a tremendous response and professionals from the corporate world and academia attended the event.

The conference covered multiple topics including, Management of Hepatitis C with Eastern and Synthetic Medicines, Hyperthermic Cancer Therapy, Quality Controlling of Herbal Medicine, Leptogenic Effect of Herbal Drugs and Management of Obesity, Cytotoxicity Screening and Mechanism Study of Natural Compounds.

Dr Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan, presided over the inaugural session of the conference while a large number of students, faculty members; national and international speakers were present. He lauded the Faculty of Science and Technology for arranging such an informative conference on fundamental issue and gathering national and international experts under one roof to discuss the therapeutic importance of traditional medicines in Pakistan. Prof. Dr Masroor Elahi Babar, Dean Faculty of Science and Technology VUP, expressed the vote of the thanks. He thanked everyone involved in making the event a great success.

Prof. Dr Anwar-ul-Hassan Gillani, ex-Chairman, Pakistan Council for Science & Technology was the chief guest of the conference. He enlightened the audience about the therapeutic importance of traditional medicine in Pakistan. 

An international and national lineup of keynote speakers included, Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani Khan, Principal Eastern Medicine, Jinnah University for Women Karachi, Prof. Dr. Yasuharu Watanabe, Department of Immunobiology and Pharmacological Genetics, University of Toyama, Japan, Dr. Zheng-Guo Cui, Department of Public Health Graduate School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Science, University of Toyama, Japan, Dr. Allah Nawaz, Department

of Metabolism & Nutrition, University of Toyama, Japan, Dr. Muhammad Danial, Department of TCM and Ethnomedicine Innovation, International Laboratory School of Pharmacy, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, Changsha, China, Dr. Muhammad Riaz-ur-Rehman, Department of Eastern Medicine, GC University, Faisalabad and Dr. Muhammad Asif, Assistant Professor, Islamia University Bahawalpur. The event concluded with the distribution of shields, souvenirs and certificates for the organisers of the event.
