Producing Effective Graduates: A Challenge for Higher Education

A seminar on “Producing Effective Graduates: A Challenge for Quality Assurance in Higher Education“ was organized by Virtual University of Pakistan in collaboration with University of Education, Lahore.

The seminar was organized by Directorate of Quality Enhancement, Virtual University of Pakistan at M.A. Jinnah Campus, Lahore on December 28 2016. Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan was chief guest on the occasion.

Dr. Cosrow J. Dubash, Vice Rector, Forman Christian College highlighted the methods and practices to make a classroom alive for provision of quality education. He said that students are our product and it is our duty to prepare them good educationists, leaders and responsible citizens. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Naveed A Malik, stressed that quality standards of our education system should be improved. He further briefed the participants about best teaching practices and their impact on quality of graduates. He was of the view that capacity of teachers is key ingredient to make students lifelong learner.

Dr. Muhammad Mansha, Director QEC, University of Education emphasized on the burning issues in education structure and quality management in universities of Pakistan. He further added that quality culture should be promoted to enhance quality in education to meet the challenges of competitive environment. 

Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Najma Najam, Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Prof. Dr. Munawar Sultana Mirza, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Education and Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, Advisor Quality Enhancement, VU.

A large number of faculty, students and members of QEC departments of various universities from different cities participated through an interactive video link.
