Seminar on "Anti-Corruption" held at VU

Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) in collaboration with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) organized a seminar titled “Freedom from corruption improves quality of life” at M.A Jinnah Campus Lahore on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. The objective of the event was to raise awareness among masses about ill effects of corruption and the corrupt practices. It also aimed at active involvement of all stakeholders for combating this menace that has unfortunately permeated into different segments of the society.

Noted scholar, Prof. Dr. Khalid Zaheer, Dr. Cusrow J. Dubash, Vice Rector, Forman Christian College University were the guest speakers of the occasion.

In his enlightening and thought provoking discourse to the faculty and students, Dr. Khalid Zaheer highlighted how teachers can demonstrate high character values and inculcate the same among students. Dr. Cusrow J. Dubash briefed the participants on the role of a good citizen in society. He emphasized proper planning and strictly implemented policies with public support which can put halt to this growing menace. He also shed light on the civic sense and role of youth to be a good citizen.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan stressed the need of creating awareness among the people in order to kill corruption at grass root level.

Towards the end of the ceremony, oath taking ceremony was also organized for Character Building Society (CBS) members.  New students vowed under oath in order to become a contributing member of the society. Faculty and Students from various universities across Pakistan and VU campuses from several cities joined the seminar using Video Link. The event was also attended by Ch. Khaliq Uz Zaman, Deputy General Prosecutor NAB and other high officials of both organizations, faculty members and students.
