MS in Bioinformatics

Introduction/Description

Master of Science in Bioinformatics is a research based degree program offered by the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. The field of Bioinformatics has emerged with a merger of biological science and computer science to help in storing, visualizing and interpreting the biological data. The program has been designed to equip the students with latest knowledge, tools and techniques to develop algorithms/tools for protein/homology modelling, generating protein sequences and structure alignments and simulators for constructing true alignments. The program aims at fulfilling the needs of educational and research institutions and the industry serving/ specializing in the fields of health and life sciences.

Program Objectives

  • To equip students with latest computational biology techniques such as infer evolutionary relationships, 3D protein structure and drug discovery.
  • To enable students to develop novel algorithms and approaches for managing and analyzing huge biological data efficiently.
  • To develop an insight into scientific methodologies and advances in bioinformatics research.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • 16-year of education in Computer Science/Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Biological Sciences with at least CGPA 2.50 out of 4 or 1st division wherein GPA system is not implemented.
