Introduction

The Department of Psychology, Virtual university of Pakistan was established in the year 2003. As the first Psychology Department in Pakistan to adopt a completely modern Information and Communication mode, we bring the highest quality education right to your doorstep. The Department has a primary objective of facilitating students in acquiring a comprehensive understanding of psychology through remote learning methods. The asynchronous learning mode empowers students to pursue their academic goals without geographical constraints, allowing for a seamless balance between education and other commitments. The Department offers a diverse range of programs including BS Psychology (4-years), Associate Degree in Psychology (2-years), Associate Degree in Arts (2-years) and Diploma in Psychology (1-year) tailored to meet the evolving needs of the students. Our curriculum is designed to provide specialized knowledge in different areas such as Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Health Psychology, and Forensic Psychology. We take pride in standing at the forefront of contemporary education, witnessing a remarkable surge in enrollment trends with over 30 thousand students taking admissions in different courses each semester and more than 500 students successfully completing their degrees each year. Our highly qualified and dedicated faculty members are readily available, ensuring that students can connect with them at their convenience, fostering a supportive and engaging learning experience. We encourage students to engage in meaningful research projects in their areas of interest under the guidance of qualified supervisors. The internship opportunities in the field also provide students with hands-on experience and a practical understanding of psychology in real-world settings. The mission of the Department is to provide standard and quality education to promote intellectual development of its students. Through research, collaboration, and experiential learning, we aim to shape compassionate professionals who positively impact the world.

Welcome to the Psychology Department, Virtual University of Pakistan!

The Department of Psychology, Virtual University of Pakistan earned its recognition and reputation in 2003 as one of the oldest departments offering education in asynchronous mode in Pakistan. We as a faculty are committed to providing a nurturing and innovative environment for learning. The Department established by offering 4-Years BS Program and 2-Years BA in Psychology. In 2012, one-Year Diploma in Psychology, one-Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and 2-Years Masters in Applied & Organizational Psychology were offered. Later on, following HEC policy, BA and M.Sc. Programs were phased out and 2-Years Associate Degree in Psychology (ADP) was offered. The Department also takes pride in offering 2-Years Associate Degree in Arts (ADA), providing the students an opportunity to specialize in their area of interest. Starting with just 90 students, the Department now boasts almost 20 thousand active students enrolled in different programs from all over Pakistan. I take pride in sharing that around 700 overseas students enrolled in different programs have successfully completed their education.

Spanning over a period of two decades, our online platform has been designed to provide a dynamic and engaging educational experience, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for our students without compromising the quality of education. Our esteemed faculty, including 20 members with 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, 10 Lecturers, and 7 Instructors, brings a wealth of expertise, fostering an environment that contributes to intellectual exploration, research innovation, and personal mentorship.

In addition to our rich history, the Psychology Department is a pioneer in establishing a Psychology lab for distance learning students in Pakistan, equipped with many globally recognized, reliable lab tests aimed at giving online students exposure to laboratory settings. Beyond teaching, we actively organize extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including competitions, workshops, seminars, and webinars. Our students also play a significant role in providing community services. Moreover, our expert faculty members, specialized in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, have been and continue to provide on-demand counseling services to our valuable students.

I am honored to share that the degrees offered in different Psychology Programs are widely recognized at the national and international levels. Our students are serving in well-reputed institutes, and many are pursuing higher education from national and international universities.
