The Department of Statistics started its working with the establishment of the University in 2002. The humble beginning of the Department started with a single course on Portability and Statistics.
During the last two decades of its existence, it has grown into a full-fledged department offering more than 20 different courses in the major areas of Statistics. These video courses are designed and recorded by the best university professors selected from all over the country. MSc Statistics is a well-received program offered by the Department. The students graduating from this program are growing in their further education or professional careers.
Soon, the Department is launching its 4-Year BS Statistics Degree Program with different areas of specialization like Data Science, Industrial Statistics, and Biostatistics. In the next phase, the MS Statistics Program will be offered. To cater to the needs of other departments and students, the Department also offers short courses regarding data analysis.
The Department consists of more than 17 full-time faculty members from diverse experiences, skills, and educational backgrounds. Each semester, the department arranges different workshops, seminars, and conferences on the latest trends in statistics and data science. Students, teachers, and professionals collaborate with each other and benefit from these activities.
In a testament to our adaptability and resilience, our Department thrived amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. While many institutions grappled with the transition to online learning, we seamlessly transitioned, leveraging our strength as an online university to outperform expectations during these trying times.
With a proud legacy, we have already imparted knowledge to over 5000 students, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in education. Our programs and courses are the preferred choice for a diverse range of individuals, including job seekers, housewives, fresh students, and government job holders residing in even the remotest areas of the country.
