Bachelor of Science in Public Administration

Introduction

The Bachelor of Science program in Public Administration is designed to meet specific needs of public sector. There are different goals of this program which include:

  1. Providing a liberal arts education through the University's Core Curriculum.

  2. Assuring an understanding and appreciation of the political, social, and economic aspects of public services.

  3. Preparing students for entry and middle-level professional positions in public sector.

Objectives

The objectives of the program are:

  1. To develop understanding with different aspects of Public Administration.

  2. To become familiar with operational aspects of Public Administration and public policy specifically in the context of Pakistan.

  3. To develop managerial, planning, interpersonal and analytical skills.

  4. To enable students to articulate and apply a public service perspective.

  5. To Sharpen the skills to analyze, synthesize and evaluate the gaps in public service delivery for bringing reforms in governance.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants with a 2-year Associate Degree in the same discipline (from an HEC-recognized institution) will be able to join the 5th semester of a BS program. Those with an Associate Degree in a different discipline or a conventional BA/BSc degree (annual system) must complete a bridging semester/deficiency semester to address academic deficiencies.

The minimum admission eligibility is a 2.00/4.00 CGPA for Associate Degree holders (semester system) or 45% marks for BA/BSc or equivalent (annual system). The University may set higher standards for specific programs.

Assessment Criteria

The students study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), mid-term and final-term examinations.

Award of Degree

To be eligible for the award of BS degree, the students are required to complete prescribed course work of 60 credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 out of 4.

Project / Internship / Practicals

Students are required to complete a capstone project and internship courses of 3 credit hours each to complete the degree requirement.
