Introduction

The Department of Islamic Studies, VU is working since the date Virtual University of Pakistan established in 2002. The aim of the Department of Islamic Studies is to contribute to the academic and social development of the society through pursuit of Islamic education and research and to enable the students to respond effectively to the challenges of the modern age. The department is also aiming to deliver advanced knowledge and understanding of classical and modern Islamic religious thoughts and an understanding of Islamic culture and intellectual history in the modern and contemporary world. In this way, students will be able to understand contemporary issues and to present Islam as a religion of peace, tolerance and harmony. To build a cohesive, confident and civilized nation, students are required to be trained to comprehend Islamic social values & morals, as well as, skills to perform well in other fields of life. Well qualified professionals of the department have been engaged to focus on achieving excellence in Islamic education and research to contribute to the intellectual, cultural and social development of the society.
