University Organized A Four-Day Summer Boot Camp "STEM For Schools" In Islamabad

The Professional Development Center (PDC) at Virtual University recently organized a four-day summer boot camp "STEM for Schools" in Islamabad, marking the second event in a series. This particular camp was specifically tailored for school-aged children. Over 30 participants from various schools in the area took part in this enriching summer program.

The primary focus of the boot camp was to familiarize the children with the concepts of circuit design and LED control through software applications. Additionally, the camp provided instruction on the fundamentals of programming, emphasizing its application in hardware control. The children displayed remarkable enthusiasm throughout the camp and actively engaged in all the activities.

This summer boot camp offered a distinctive opportunity for the participants, as it not only provided hands-on practice but also enabled them to gain knowledge about programming hardware. The trainers themselves were highly enthusiastic about teaching the children and introduced them to the concepts of circuit design, motor control, and the handling of various sensors, including temperature and ultrasonic sensors.

Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, the Rector of Virtual University, personally invested himself in this summer camp, demonstrating his commitment to the program's success. He encouraged the children to actively participate in every activity, fostering an environment of growth and learning. Mr. Waqar, Mr. Waqas, and Mr. Yasir from Virtual University exhibited exceptional dedication as they imparted knowledge to the children, providing guidance at every step of the way.

The Professional Development Center (PDC) of the Virtual University of Pakistan successfully organized a three-day hands-on training program called "Python Essentials" for 27 female faculty members from Kinnaird College Lahore. The workshop aimed to equip the participants with essential programming skills and provide them with in-depth knowledge of Python, a versatile programming language widely used across various industries.

Throughout the workshop, the participants gained practical experience in installing Python, setting up development environments, and working with fundamental programming concepts such as data types, basic operations, decision-making structures, loops, and functions. They also learned effective manipulation of data structures like lists, tuples, and dictionaries, and explored advanced topics including the usage of the Numpy library for linear algebra operations, file handling, and data visualization using Matplotlib.

The participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable learning opportunity and praised the workshop's content and hands-on approach. Training Workshop Of Mobile Application Development Using MIT App Inve....

On 16 Feb, 2023, PDC VU organized a hands-on training workshop on Mobile Application Development using MIT App Inventor. The workshop was held at Davis Road Campus VU and was attended by 25 participants. Mr. Hassan Aslam, an experienced Electrical Engineer, was the trainer for the workshop.

The objective of the workshop was to provide hands-on training to the participants on how to develop mobile applications using MIT App Inventor. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to the basics of mobile application development and to equip them with the skills and knowledge required to develop their own applications.

Workshop Structure The workshop was structured to cover the following topics:

  • • Introduction to mobile application development
  • • Overview of MIT App Inventor
  • • Setting up the development environment
  • • Designing the user interface
  • • Adding functionality to the application
  • • Testing and publishing the application

The workshop started with an introduction to mobile application development and an overview of MIT App Inventor. The trainer then provided a step-by-step guide on how to set up the development environment and design the user interface. The participants were given hands-on exercises to practice adding functionality to the application. The trainer also provided tips and tricks on how to test and publish the application.

The participants were highly satisfied with the workshop and found it to be very informative and useful. What an incredible journey it has been! We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the "STEM for School" summer camp, where we witnessed young minds bloom with knowledge and innovation!

Over the past week, our campers delved into the fascinating world of programming, mobile application development, and IoT (Internet of Things).
