Introduction/Description
The Associate Degree in Science (Mathematics, Statistics & Economics) program is a 2-year/4-Semester Program which has been designed to equip the students with adequate knowledge and skills which would help them taking an early start of their professional career so that they can earn their livings and support their families too.
Note: Candidates holding Associate Degree can continue towards respective BS 4-year degree program. Or the student can apply for new admission towards any BS 4-Year degree program (Subject to admission eligibility with exemption/transfer of relevant qualified courses) as per policy.
Program Objectives

The main objective of this degree program is to provide students with thorough understanding of the theories, principles and analytical techniques in the economics, mathematics and statistics which will prepare students for post-graduate study in Economics, Mathematics and Statistics.
Admission Eligibility Criteria
Intermediate (equivalent to 12 years of education) with at least 45% marks.

Candidates having less than 45% marks will be eligible for admission after successful completion of “
Zero Semester”.

Duration
It is two-year full time study program spread over four semesters. Each semester has at least 18 weeks duration for teaching and examinations etc.

Assessment of Study Progress
The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDBs), mid-term and final term exams. The mid-term and final term exams are conducted at VU’s designated centers and usually count for 80 to 85% of the total marks for a course.
Award of Degree
To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree in Science (Mathematics, Statistics & Economics), a student is required to earn prescribed number of credit hours with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.
