Introduction
The proposed Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education is designed to help prospective teachers develop the required pedagogical knowledge and skills to teach different subjects in elementary grades in public and private sector. The proposed program has emphasis on practical knowledge of teaching and students would develop a strong understanding of education after learning about foundations of education, learning theories and classroom assessment techniques.

The program will develop the relevant knowledge and skills of pedagogical methods in the prospective school teachers so that their students may become critical thinkers and develop good understanding of different subjects.
Program Objectives
After completing the Bachelor of Education degree in Elementary Education, the students will:

develop an understanding of the psychology of young learners;

foster creative thinking among their pupils for reconstruction of knowledge;

develop communication skills and use modern information technology for school teaching;

acquire competencies relevant to stage specific pedagogy, curriculum development, its transaction and evaluation;

make pedagogical analysis of the subjects they are to teach at the elementary stage;

develop positive attitude to teaching profession;

use innovative methods of teaching.

Candidates having less than 45% marks will be eligible for admission after successful completion of “
Zero Semester”.
Course Exemption
Course exemptions are allowed only for candidates having B.Ed 1-year degree.
Duration
It is a two-year full time study program and is spread over four semesters. Each semester has at least 18 weeks of duration for teaching and examinations etc.

Assessment of Study Progress
The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism will be based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes; graded discussion boards (GDBs), presentations, mid-term and final term examinations.
Teaching Practices/Project/Teaching Internship
Students are required to complete Teaching Practices/Project/Teaching Internship of 3~9 Credit Hours during B.Ed. Elementary program. The choice of the final project is at the student’s discretion. However, consultation with the student advisor is compulsory. Students have to submit a detailed write-up of the Project and may be required to give a presentation.
Award of Degree
To become eligible for the award of B.Ed. Elementary (2-Year) degree, the student is required to complete at least 72 credit hours with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.00 out of 4.
