The Faculty of Management offers MBA/MSBA (1.5-year / 3-semesters) program leading to Ph.D degree in Business Administration. The program has been designed for candidates who intend to pursue their professional career as teaching faculty member in an educational institution or serve the industry at senior management position. The program provides opportunities to learn special business techniques required to excel in the challenging and rapidly changing world.  The students will have an option to select any one of the areas of specialization offered that is ‘Banking’, ‘Finance’, ‘Human Resource Management’, ‘Information Technology’, ‘Management’, and ‘Marketing’.

Admission eligibility criteria:

Candidates having 16-year education [BS in Business Administration, BS in Commerce, Old MBA, M.Com, MBS, ACMA, ACA and other relevant equivalent qualification] with at least Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 2.50 out of 4 / 1st division, wherein GPA system is not implemented, are eligible to apply. The candidates will be required to qualify GAT General Test (with minimum 50% marks).

Award of Degree:

MBA-Master of Business Administration (1.5-year / 3-semester) degree (Equivalent to MS):

Candidates are required to complete prescribed course work (at least 37-credit hours) by attending minimum 3-semesters with at least CGPA 3.00 out of 4.

Note: Research Thesis will not be offered to students taking MBA track.

MSBA-Master of Science in Business Administration (1.5-year / 3-semester) degree:

Candidates are required to complete prescribed course work (at least 31-credit hours) plus Research Thesis (6-credit hours) by attending minimum 3-semesters with at least CGPA 3.00 out of 4.

The courses may be revised time to time as a result of continuous review to bring them at par with courses from being taught at top-class foreign universities. Areas of Specialization:

A student must qualify at least four courses from an area of selected specialization. However, Graduates of Virtual University of Pakistan having specialization in their previous degree program will not be allowed to select the same area of specialization. Following are the areas of specialization:

Research Thesis:

In order to enroll for research thesis for MSBA degree, students must have achieved at least CGPA 3.25 out of 4 upon completion of 2nd semester’s courses comprising 24 credit hours course work.

2.   Master of Business Administration (equivalent to MS)/ MS in Business Administration Program for candidates with non-business education

The candidates with 16-year non-business education [BE, MBBS, MA, M.Sc., and other equivalent qualifications from a recognized university/institution] will be required to qualify at least 37-credit hours of deficiency business courses before they could become eligible for admission towards MBA (equivalent to MS)/MS in Business Administration program.

NOTE: After completion of prescribed deficiency courses (2-semesters) with at least CGPA 2.00 out of 4, candidates would be eligible to apply for award of Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies against the payment of prescribed diploma fee. However, Candidates intend to continue MBA/MSBA would be required to maintain CGPA 2.00 out of 4 upon completion of prescribed deficiency courses and will be required to qualify GAT General Test (with minimum 50% marks).

Assessment of Study Progress:

The evaluation of students’ study progress for deficiency courses is based on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards, mid-term and final-term examinations. The mid-term and final-term exams are conducted at VU’s designated exam centers and usually count 80 to 85% of the total marks of a course.

Continuation to MBA (equivalent to MS)/MS in Business Administration Program:

Candidates intend to continue to MBA/MSBA program would be required to maintain CGPA 2.00 out of 4 upon completion of prescribed deficiency courses and will be required to qualify GAT General Test (with minimum 50% marks).
