M.Sc. Organizational Psychology

Introduction/Description

Within the realm of organization and work environment, the importance of human resources can never be overlooked. Amalgamating psychology in this domain has resulted in enrichment of manpower of organizations/industries on the global level. The healthier the human resources of an organization are mentally, the richer are the chances for economic progress of that organization as well as the entire country. The need for such a collaboration is also increasing in our country and now many organizations are including professional psychologists in various areas of organizations i.e. recruitment, screening, evaluation, morale boosting, etc. The M.Sc. (Organizational Psychology) Program offers a vast scope to the students to understand the peculiarities of organizational domain by viewing them from the lens of a psychologist.

Program Objectives

Following are the main objectives of the Program:

  • To provide an understanding of all the fundamental psychological issues/theories regarding the behavior of individuals in organizational settings;
  • To equip students with a wide range of skills and methods that they can apply in organizational setting;
  • To sharpen the analytical skills of students based on objective and pragmatic investigation of psychological dynamics in the organizations;

Admission Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s Degree (14-year education) with ‘Psychology’ as an elective subject, BBA (or any other relevant equivalent qualification) from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 45% marks or CGPA 2.00 out of 4

Note

  • Candidates holding Bachelor’s Degree in any other disciplines other than mentioned above may enter through Diploma in Applied Psychology from VUP route.
  • Candidates holding Diploma in Applied Psychology from VUP will be given course(s) exemptions in case they apply admission in M.Sc. Organizational Psychology.
  • Candidates holding 2-year Bachelor’s Degree from VUP will only be allowed to continue seamlessly towards their respective 4-year BS Degree Program at a later stage in life.
  • Zero Semester is not applicable for M.Sc. Organizational Psychology Program.

Course exemption is allowed.

Duration

The Program is a two-year full time study program spread over four semesters. Each semester has at least eighteen (18) weeks duration for teaching and examinations etc.

Assessment of Study Progress

The students’ study progress evaluation mechanism is based on continuous assessment throughout semester by giving assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards (GDB), mid-term and final-term exams. The mid/final-term exams are conducted at VUP’s designated exam centers and usually count 80% to 85% of the total marks of a course. The students are also required to submit a Final Project and give a presentation which will be evaluated on “Pass/Fail” basis.

Project/Internship Report

Students are required to complete a Project/Internship Report of 3-credit hours in the final semester of the Program. The choice of the Final Project is at the student’s discretion. However, consultation with the student advisor is compulsory. Students have to submit a detailed write-up of the Project and may be required to give a presentation.

Students taking Internship course are required to complete 6 to 8 weeks internship in the organization and shall get an Internship Letter from the concerned organization. The students who are already in service will be exempted from internship but required to submit the Project.

Award of Degree

To be eligible for the award of M.Sc. (Organizational Psychology) Degree, the students are required to qualify the prescribed courses amounting to at least Sixty Six (66) credit hours with a Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.
