PhD in Linguistics

Dr. Muhammad Kamal Khan is an Associate Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad, Pakistan. He completed his PhD in Linguistics (Phonetics and Phonology) from University of Management and Technology, Lahore. He has a first class degree in English language and literature with a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in English Language Teaching (ELT) and an M Phil in Applied Linguistics.

As a researcher, his core areas are language typology, English Language Teaching (ELT) and the phonetics and phonology of Pakistani regional languages. With an interest in Indo-Iranian language family, he has published 25 research papers on theoretical and descriptive studies of languages including Pashto, Urdu and Punjabi.

As a visiting scholar, he has visited Newcastle University (United Kingdom) for his PhD research, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Bangkok (Thailand) for a training course as Master Trainer and Dicle University (Turkey) as an Exchange Instructor. In 2017, he was selected for SUSI Fellowship at Seattle University, WA, United States.
