Prof. Dr. Ali Hammad Akbar is a distinguished academic and researcher serving as a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the Main Campus of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore. He earned his Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) from Technische Universität Dortmund, Germany, in 2023, following his M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from UET Lahore in 2012 and B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology in 2006.

Dr. Akbar’s research primarily focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT), network and wireless security, computer networking, ICT systems, and routing protocols. He has contributed significantly to the academic and research community through high-impact publications in international venues. Some of his notable works include studies on secure frameworks and architectures for IoT systems, such as the Minimalist Implementation of oneM2M Security Architecture for Constrained IoT Devices (IEEE GLOBECOM 2019) and the oneM2M Architecture-Based Secure MQTT Binding in Mbed OS (IEEE Euro S&P 2019). His earlier work also covers mobility management protocols and efficient architectures for sensor networks, often in collaboration with international research teams.

His research achievements have earned him recognition in the AD Scientific Index, where he ranks among the leading researchers in his field — holding an H-index of 15, with over 950 citations. On ResearchGate, Dr. Akbar has over 13 publications, 3,900 reads, and approximately 100 citations, reflecting his influence and contributions to the research community.

As a faculty member at UET Lahore, Prof. Dr. Ali Hammad Akbar continues to mentor students, lead innovative research initiatives, and contribute to the advancement of emerging technologies in IoT, wireless systems, and network security, strengthening the academic and technological landscape of Pakistan.
