Dr. Imdad Hussain

Phd in Public Policy

Dr. Imdad Hussain has joined Center for Public Policy and Governance, Forman Christian as an Assistant Professor on 1 July 2011. He is teaching different courses over there. Mr. Hussain received Masters in Sociology from Punjab University Lahore in 2000, Masters and PhD in Public Policy from National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo in 2005 and 2010 respectively. He has extensively investigated Islamization of education policy in Pakistan. He is experienced in research, training, teaching and advocacy in urban policy, urban housing, education and cultural policies, Islamization of public policy, modernization and development, curriculum analysis, peace and street theaters.

He has also taught at Department of Psychology, MAO College Lahore, National Institute of Public Administration, Punjab Institute of Human Resource Development, Pakistan Foundation for the Advancement of Engineering and Technology, Civil Services Academy, Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Lahore, Sialkot and Gujranwala.

Since 2001, Mr Hussain is associated with Punjab Urban Resource Center (PURC) which works to advance pro-poor urban development in Lahore through research, advocacy and networking. At PURC, Mr Hussain has contributed to a number of researches on urban problems and spoke to NGOs, citizens and government officers on low-cost, self-help development approach pioneered by Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan, the founder of Orangi Pilot Project, Karachi. He is also a member, board of directors, Saiban, an NGO working to provide low-income housing to the urban poor.
