Miss Amina Tabassum, Lecturer at the Department of Economics, Virtual University of Pakistan, presented a research paper co-authored with Miss Samina Saghir and Miss Kanwal Zahid, titled “Determinants of Female Labor Force Participation in Pakistan: An Empirical Analysis of the Labor Force Survey 2020-21”, at the two-days National Conference on ‘Shifting Paradigms: Uniting for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality’ held at COMSTECH, Islamabad, on February 12–13, 2025. The paper was selected as “Best Research Paper” from the 6 shortlisted papers.
During her presentation, Miss Amina Tabassum highlighted the significant role of higher education, technical and professional skills, household dynamics, and economic factors in shaping female labor force participation in Pakistan. She emphasized that promoting skill-based education, ensuring a safe and flexible work environment, providing childcare facilities at workplaces, and fostering progressive societal mindsets are crucial steps toward increasing women’s participation in the workforce.
