The Faculty of Education Conducted Its First e-Webinar on “Generative AI in Education”
The Faculty of Education, in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Virtual University of Pakistan, successfully conducted its e-Webinar series titled “The Future of Education and Research with AI: Tools, Trends, and Ethics.” The series, scheduled from October 3 to November 27, 2025, is being conducted by the Department of Education under the guidance of Dr. Sumbal Tahir (HOD) and coordinated by Dr. Hina Amin (Focal Person). The first session, titled “Generative AI in Education: An Overview,” was held on October 3, 2025, with Dr. Irum Andleeb serving as the Resource Person. Ms. Javeria Rashid moderated the session with commendable professionalism and engagement. The organizing team included Ms. Nida Shahzad, Ms. Zareen Taj, and Ms. Fiza Zia. The session drew an enthusiastic audience of around 270 to 300 participants, including faculty members, students, and researchers from across the country as well as international participants, reflecting the global relevance and outreach of the topic.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Sumbal Asghar (Chief Organizer), who formally inaugurated the series. In her address, Dr. Sumbal Asghar extended heartfelt appreciation to the organizing committee, IT support team, and the higher administration of the Virtual University for their valuable contributions. She emphasized that this series aims to empower educators, researchers, and learners with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic and professional contexts. The session provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to Generative AI, exploring its core features, educational applications, ethical implications, and transformative potential in areas such as curriculum design, teaching, assessment, and research innovation. Pre- and post-assessment activities were conducted to evaluate participants’ learning outcomes and engagement levels.
The interactive discussion yielded valuable insights and actionable strategies for integrating AI into education, equipping stakeholders to address emerging challenges in digital pedagogy and research practices. Dr. Sabeen Qamer delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the participants’ keen interest and highlighting the importance of continued dialogue and capacity building in AI-driven education.
Participant feedback reflected strong appreciation for the session’s relevance, clarity, and practical orientation. The Faculty of Education reaffirms its commitment to promoting a research-driven, technology-integrated, and future-ready learning ecosystem through such impactful academic initiatives that bridge innovation and education.
